MPAA Sends Five Key Propaganda Points To Politicians http://t.co/1d5dk3bO So now you know what the politicians will say as “their opinion”
I have no respect for politicians. I have total contempt for politicians of any persuasion who make laws about topics they know nothing about. If I ruled the world, no law would be passed until the politicians voting all passed a knowledge test on the subject matter. This would mean a lot fewer laws get passed, and that’s a good thing!
One of the side consequences of politicians not doing the job they’re actually paid to do – know what they’re voting on – most politicians get their talking points from lobbyists representing the companies that bought and paid for the politician with their donations. (It’s a corrupt system.) Now the MPAA’s compulsive lying is on again with a new set of bogus talking points, easily disproved and shown to be the lies they are, but no politician will ever question them.
As for the specific numbers, it’s worth noting that the TV and film business has been growing massively over the past decade — even though (as the MPAA constantly reminds us) copyright has been getting less and less respect, and infringement has been spreading. An organization based in reality recognizes that perhaps the weakening of copyright laws is not a “problem” in such a situation. As for the specific numbers, those are complete bunk. 2.1 million jobs? No. The Congressional Research Service looked into the movie industry and found a grand total of374,000 employees in 2010 — which is a number that the MPAA tries to hide by pretending that all sorts of ancillary jobs, such as flowershops and laundromats that service film crews while shooting, count in this calculation.
Bogus bullsh*t from beginning to end. How do we stop these idiots? And how do we get representation that isn’t as badly tainted as this lot are? (In every country, of every party.)
